What to do if you’re fired from a company that operates all over the country in Pakistan?

If you’ve lost your job at a company that has offices or operations in many different provinces, here’s a simple guide on what steps to take;

Figure Out your Job Role.

First, think about the kind of job you had:

Were you a boss or supervisor? (if so , some labor laws might not apply to you)

Were you a regular worker? (Like a clerk, or someone who does manual work) if yes, you probably have legal rights that protect you.

Where to file your complaint.

Since your company works across the whole country , the competent forum for the redressal is the National Industrial Relations Commission (NIRC)

Prove you were a “Workman”.

This is a key step. You need to show that your job fit the legal definition of a “Workman”.

Gather evidence that your job was mostly manual, clerical, or not about managing others.

Why were you fired?

Companies are usually required to give you a written reason for firing you.

Did they follow the rules when they fired you? For example , did they give you a warning or hold a proper investigation?

It’s a good idea to talk to a lawyer who specializes in labor laws. They can look at your situation and tell you the best way forward.
